The department of education, Northern Ireland, awarded Woodvale Lowry JV the contract to deliver a shared education facility on the site of the former Lisanelly Army Barracks in Omagh.

In 2016, Woodvale Construction Company Ltd completed the new Arvalee School and Resource Centre at the Lisanelly Army Barracks site.

Construction is expected to start later this year ahead of the new campus opening in September 2028.

The campus project aims to provide a shared centre of learning, and bring together six schools from across the community, incorporating grammar, secondary and special school provision.

The schools will cater to more than 4,000 children and provide a shared curriculum and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

Ivor Sampson, WLJV Director, said: “As local contractors, we are delighted with the contract award.

We have close relationships with all the school communities and understand the urgent need to provide a conducive learning environment for our children, community and future generations.”

Education Minister Paul Givan said: “This is a momentous day for the Strule Programme.

“Strule will be the largest education construction project ever delivered in Northern Ireland and will bring a huge boost to the local economy.

“It represents a massive capital investment in the west of Northern Ireland and will stimulate further development and regeneration of the region.”
