The South Greenford groundworks and concrete frame contractor shared the new home kits for the 2024/25 season on social media, featuring their logo emblazoned on the front of the team’s striped black and white shirt.

The company said:  “we are delighted to announce that we are the new main sponsors for Hanwell Town F.C.”

The company came from humble beginnings, with its founding brothers Oliver and Pat Connell working as farm hands at a farm in Ireland. Decades later the firm has expanded into the UK construction market.

Last year Oliver Connell and Son reported unprecedented growth due to, among other reasons, a “more strategic and targeted approach to projects tendered” and “a highly motivated workforce”.

The 50-year family-run business posted turnover of £142 million for the year ended 30 June 2023, a 22 per cent increase on the previous financial period (£116.7 million).

Meanwhile, its gross profit was £16.1 million (FY2022: £7.6 million).

Hanwell Town F.C. are a semi-professional representing Hanwell but currently playing in Perivale in the London Borough of Ealing, England.

The 1920-founded team is currently ranked ninth in the Southern Football League, FA Cup ahead of the upcoming season.

The shirts presentation was made at half time with OC Directors James Connell, Patsy Connell, Jim O’Reilly, David Sheath CMIOSH and Hanwell Town Officials, Director of Football Ray Duffy, CEO Nigel Hunt and Chairman Bob Fisher.

Construction has seen representation in football sponsorships over the years.

Last year, the EFL League One team Stevenage FC announced partnership with HG Construction Group for both men’s and women’s First Team shirts for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.

Meanwhile, Linfield Football Club agreed a one-year shirt sponsorship deal Ready Construction for the Men’s team and academy teams home and away shirts for the 2024/25 season.
