Established in 1966, Dornan today delivers mechanical, electrical and HVAC engineering services on complex large-scale projects for blue-chip clients in the advanced technology sector, including data centres and biopharma facilities.

The group also delivers projects for clients in the industrial, healthcare, commercial, aviation, and education sectors, via its 1,000 direct employees.

Notable projects by Dornan include M&E works at Canary Wharf Station in London on the new Crossrail network and the electrical, instrumentation and HVAC hook-up contract for the new production facility at Lilly’s Kinsale site in Cork.

Its backlog of work is estimated to be worth approximately $1.2 billion (€1.1 billion).

Turner Construction Company, also a leading builder of advanced technology projects, seeks to significantly expand its presence in Europe with the acquisition of Dornan, where it has identified $20 billion of mutual project opportunities.

Turner is a subsidiary of HOCHTIEF, an engineering-led global infrastructure solutions provider, both of which are part of the ACS Group of companies.

Dornan CEO, Brian Acheson, said: “Our employees and clients will benefit greatly as Dornan joins the Turner family of businesses.

“Our clients will continue to enjoy the same level of superior service as we deliver complex technical projects within time and on budget.

“They will also benefit from the increased scale of Dornan as part of a combined group with over $18 billion of turnover.

“Similarly, our employees will find increased opportunity provided by Turner to grow Dornan. I am genuinely excited and really looking forward to our future together.”

Completion of the transaction is subject to customary merger control approval processes.
