Fitout specialist Beck Interiors to appoint administrators

editor

Surrey-based fitout specialist Beck Interiors Limited appears to have filed a ‘notice of its intention to appoint an administrator’.

The Chessington-headquartered business appears to have lodged an application with the Companies Court this week (Tuesday 23 July).

Global multinational law practice Eversheds Sutherland appears to be listed in court documents as Beck’s legal representative.

The administration filing this week follows a winding up petition filed by Mitsubishi Electric Europe (MEE) against Beck last month (14 June), with solicitors J.E Baring & Co in London representing MEE and law firm Edwin Coe, also in London, acting for Beck.

Eltrade Electrical Limited, Sidney Cubbage (Heating and Ventilating Limited), F J Corvan Limited, and MES Contractors Limited are also listed as supporting creditors under the winding up petition.

Winding up petitions are serious legal actions and can lead to a company’s bank accounts being frozen.

An unpaid creditor can petition the courts to force an insolvent company into compulsory liquidation.

Beck Interiors began trading as an Employee Ownership Trust in 2021.

It focuses on luxury hospitality, leisure, residential and museum projects throughout the UK and overseas, including the refurbishment of The Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane in London.

Latest accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022 appear to show turnover of £139.3 million, generating a pre-tax profit of £7.2 million and operating profit of £7 million, all significantly up on the previous financial year.

It is understood Beck Interiors employed in the region of more than 250 people at the time of its last financial report.

Beck Interiors and Eversheds Sutherland were approached for comment.
