Inside the deal: The construction firm will build the office tower on 50 Fenchurch Street and expects it to become one of the lowest carbon workplace towers in the UK

Construction for the project is to start in June, with target completion in 2028.

The scheme involves incorporating gardens and planted terraces throughout the building, with greenery extending up to the top of the tower situated 150 metres into the sky.

The tower is also set to feature 650,000 sq. ft of workspace across 36 storeys in an effort to address a shortage of technologically-forward and sustainable offices.

Eric Parry Architects and Adamson Associates will work alongside Arup who leads the engineering design.

Multiplex UK managing director, Callum Tuckett, said: “We believe the development will set a new benchmark for future workplaces in London and beyond, and we look forward to working alongside the rest of the project team to bring this visionary development to life.”

Rob Samuel, U.K. head of development at AXA, said: “Commencing construction with Multiplex marks a significant milestone in the realisation of what we believe is a one-of-a-kind development in the City of London.”
