Kier Places, a facilities management (FM) business within Kier Group, has announced a restructure as part of its five-year strategic growth plan.

Led by managing director Jamie McKechnie, Kier Places will now operate across three key business streams: Building Solutions, Residential Solutions, and Workplace Solutions.
Sitting within Kier’s Construction division, the client-led business will extend its geographical reach to the south coast via the Building Solutions stream to access more framework opportunities in the region, alongside its existing work in London and the north of England.
The range of services across the Kier Places business include reactive and planned maintenance, M&E maintenance and response, decarbonisation and retrofit, hard and soft FM, refurbishment, remodel and extension, cladding remediation, fire assessment works, soft facilities, asbestos survey and remodel, and fabric maintenance.
The news follows Kier being appointed to deliver FM services for the new Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff upon completion of its build in 2027 for a period of 25 years.
McKechnie said: “I’ve been in post for just over a year and as a business we continue to perform incredibly well.
“Our success in recent years has given us the platform to develop a long-term evidence-informed growth strategy, and we’re now implementing that at pace, including the introduction of our new business areas.
“An important part of our growth strategy has been about listening to our clients and finding out what they are really looking for.
“Our strength is in our ability to partner with our clients to develop solutions which protect the value of their assets whilst enhancing the end users’ experience and contribute to thriving communities.
“This a hugely exciting time at Kier Places and today we are making a bold statement of intent for what the next few years look like and the scale of our ambition.”
