Winvic Construction has been appointed to finish an industrial warehouse project in the West Midlands after the collapse of Buckingham Group.
SEGRO confirmed the appointment of Winvic as the principal contractor to complete the work on the first four buildings at SEGRO Park Coventry.
Buckingham Group, a £700 million turnover business, formally entered administration in September after 36 years of trading.
Many of the subcontractors working on the site have been retained through the new Winvic contract, SEGRO added.
The two speculatively built units and the two pre-lets will be completed in the first half of 2024.
A spokesperson for Winvic Construction said: “We can confirm that Winvic has been appointed by SEGRO as the principal contractor to complete the work on the first four buildings at SEGRO Park Coventry. In doing so, Winvic is helping to retain a number of people who were working on the site, either directly or through supply chain partners.”
Adding: “We are pleased that we are able to support our long-standing client SEGRO with the continued delivery of work on the project, utilising our extensive experience in this field.”
A spokesperson for SEGRO said: “Following the Buckingham Group’s formal entry into administration, we appointed Winvic Construction Ltd. as the principal contractor to complete the work on the first four buildings at SEGRO Park Coventry.
“Winvic is a long-standing supplier for SEGRO and has delivered numerous warehouses and wider infrastructure at developments including SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway and SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton.
“By moving swiftly to appoint Winvic, not only were we able to continue the construction programme with minimal disruption but we were able to retain many of the people who were working on the SEGRO Park Coventry project either as direct sub-contractors or through the new Winvic contract.”
