Esh Construction has landed a raft of refurbishment contracts across the North East, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, valued at more than £60 million.
Thirteen Group, Broadacres Housing Association and Riverside have appointed the contractor to deliver refurbishment and upgrade works to their respective stock.
The first project for Thirteen is Holmes V, a £5.9 million utilities and electrical project across more than 400 homes in Thornaby, with another four contracts in the pipeline.
Thirteen’s Capital Delivery Framework, of which Holmes V is a part, will see £50 million in improvements delivered over the next five years as part of a wider £150 million investment scheme.
For Broadacres, Esh will deliver a five-year kitchen and bathroom programme to more than 1,300 properties in North Yorkshire.
And for Riverside, Esh will refurbish two occupied retirement living developments, the first of which involves utilities, mechanical and electrical, and refurbishment works in South Shields.
‘Local’ ethos
“At Esh, we are committed to making a lasting difference within the communities surrounding our developments through our ethos of employing local, supporting local, engaging local and procuring local.” said Colin Ford, operations director at Esh.
“Each new contract award will allow us to create employment opportunities and generate a significant amount of work for our local supply chain, while also delivering social value initiatives such as volunteering and donations, school and college engagement, and training opportunities.”
In Q4 2022, Esh strengthened its offering for registered housing providers by launching a new retrofit solutions division, specialising in energy efficiency and to enable providers to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) banding of C and above – a government requirement for all social housing by 2030.
