The firm’s civil engineering division has completed an enabling works package on the Trinity Rail, Road & Sea Enterprise Zone site in Hendon Sidings.

This is the third scheme Esh has done as part of the Port’s Enterprise Zone Accommodation Works.

- Setting up an on-site processing system which,
- Excavated, segregated, crushed, screened and re-used 34,000 cbm of on-site material.
- Diverted 57 tonnes of hard-to-recycle waste from landfill.
- Recycled that waste into Biomass fuel.
Port of Sunderland Enterprise Zone accommodation works received £8.2 million of investment from the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
The funding was put toward the following:
- Completing pre-development.
- Better road connectivity.
- The re-introduction of multi-modal rail operations.
Full Scope
Esh delivered more than 100 apprentice training weeks on-site.
The firm also provided two work experience placements:
- One for a Forces leaver.
- The other is for an undergraduate who has since secured a paid internship with Esh.
Previous schemes for the works include:
- The development of nine acres of developable land at the East Shore site.
