The firm is the main contractor for Everton Football Club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool, which is valued at around £500 million.

It falls within Liverpool Waters, a major regeneration scheme spanning nearly 30 years and costing more than £5 billion.

Started in 2021, development began with backfilling Bramley-Moore Dock with sand dredged from the Irish Sea.

All four stands have now been built to full height, along with the final sections of steelwork and terracing installed at the top of the east stand.

Initial fit-out has begun on different levels and will continue while the roofing structure on the west and east stands is finished.

Chief stadium development officer, Colin Chong, said the project is “testament to the truly collaborative relationship” between Everton FC, LOR and its partners.

Stadium architecture specialists MEIS and BDP designed the new venue to accommodate spectator capacity of nearly 53,000

The new stadium is set to open in time for the 2024–25 season, replacing Goodison Park.

“What we do isn’t easy, and we have some of the best people in the industry, and some of the engineering we adopt at Laing O’Rourke is very cutting-edge,” said project director, Gareth Jacques.

“What you see is a result of doing some really difficult sub-structure work through the winter months, when there was rain, hail, it was very windy and not pleasant at all.

“To do all that and keep slightly ahead of schedule is impressive and I am incredibly proud of everyone involved.”
