Caddick Construction will deliver a £23 million extra care facility in Lancaster, the first in the city.
The contract was awarded to the firm by housing association, Progress Housing Group.
Groundworks for the specialist residential development for over-55s have begun on site, with completion due in May 2025.
Caddick will construct a 92-unit extra care scheme with one and two-bed apartments, some offering wheelchair access.
Two existing buildings on site will be converted to 16 one and two-bed “general needs” flats.
Other features include spa bathing, a hairdresser, a games room, roof terraces and laundry facilities.
External works include remodelling the existing stone boundary wall, landscaping, a new car park with EV charge points, and restoration of all historical sandstone buildings.
