£500m regeneration includes famous pub owned by football legend

A major mixed-use development in Leeds costing £500 million has been approved.

Developer PLATFORM_ has won permission for new apartments and commercial space spanning 1.3 million sq ft in the city’s South Bank regeneration area. 

The build-to-rent (BTR) development on Sweet Street West will span eight acres of a brownfield site vacant since 2009. 

Features 

  • Up to 1,350 apartments 
  • A neighbourhood hub  
  • New public square 
  • Residents’ lounges and gym 
  • Co-working space 

The Commercial, a historic pub once owned by Leeds United midfield legend Peter Lorimer, will also be refurbished.  

Two office buildings will be built, spanning 96,000 sq ft and 48,000 sq ft. 

Enabling works will start soon, with a design and construction tender process later this year.
