‘Largest BTR scheme in Wales’ costing £200m begins

Watkin Jones has broken ground on a major residential scheme in Cardiff Quay, claimed to be “the largest in Wales.

Inside the deal: The developer is partnering with Legal & General to build around 715 Build-to-Rent (BTR) apartments at the former Brains Brewery site. 

The £200 million scheme is part of a wider £1 billion regeneration project in the Welsh capital. 

Features 

  • mix of studio, one, two and three-beds 
  • 19,500 sq ft of leisure and retail space 
  • lobby and concierge 
  • gardens and terraces 
  • new gym 

It will also have a public square facing River Taff. 

BREAAM and Home Quality Mark accreditations will be met throughout. 

“Building upon recent transactions, we are looking forward to developing this on behalf of Legal & General,” said Alex Pease, chief investment officer at Watkin Jones.
