Willmott to run building academy alongside new development

Willmott Dixon will deliver a £26 million leisure centre in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The firm’s North East team has been appointed to the Outer West Leisure Centre in West Denton, via Pagabo’s Major Works Framework. 

The project is backed by nearly £20 million from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund. 

It will replace the former West Denton Pool and existing All Saints Sports Centre, which are more than 50 years old. 

New facilities 

  • 25-metre eight-lane pool 
  • Learner pool and splash pad 
  • Fitness studios and gym 
  • Café and library

In addition to creating 100 apprenticeship hours, Willmott will run two Building Lives Academy programmes for people aged 16-25, who are no longer in the education system.
