Morgan Sindall Infrastructure will deliver major improvements to a London Overground station.
by Rory Butler / February 9, 2023
The firm has been appointed as main contractor for the works at Surrey Quays station by Transport for London (TfL), via the London Rail Infrastructure Improvement Framework.
A second station entrance will be built on the north side of Lower Road, providing direct access to a nearby development and Canada Water.
A new ticket hall and gate will also be constructed and installed.
Both should ease congestion at the existing entrance on the south side of Lower Road.
A new customer bridge with stairs leading to platforms will provide relief to the existing narrow staircases, which also suffer from congestion at peak times.
Step-free access will for the first time be provided to platforms via two new lifts.
The works are part of a wider Housing Infrastructure Programme to unlock 14,000 new homes.
Morgan Sindall was also appointed by TfL to deliver the new London Overground station at Barking Riverside.
