Network Rail and Transport for London (TfL) will deliver new homes, workspace and neighbourhoods to the capital in a first-of-its-kind deal.

TTL Properties, TfL’s commercial property company, will help with delivery, including some affordable homes.

The firms will use their own estates and consider “dozens” of sites across London and the south-east region, including some brownfield.

Improvements to stations and services will also happen.

New jobs and construction skills training schemes will be provided.

Combined, Network Rail and TfL are among the largest landowners in Greater London, with more than 600 stations (including retail, office and operational), and almost 14,000 acres of land.

“The partnership will work closely with the GLA, local boroughs, private sector investors and property companies to leverage their joint landholdings,” wrote the firms.

“This is a landmark moment for the capital,” said Robin Dobson, group property director at Network Rail. “This will benefit London’s communities and businesses to drive economic growth.”

Network Rail and TfL were approached for comment about which construction, engineering and architectural firms they are working with.
