A £500 million extension to the British Library has been approved.

The joint venture by Stanhope and Mitsui Fudosan UK received planning consent from Camden Council.
The scheme includes two new basement levels and around 100,000 sq ft of library space, including for business and events.
The 12-storey extension will also feature more galleries, commercial space and shops.
The scheme will have two new entrances and improved access to St Pancras Station.
Infrastructure for the proposed Crossrail 2 rail link is also planned.

It is understood the British Library will make a £23 million contribution to affordable housing nearby.
Plans will now go to the Mayor of London for final say, with construction starting in 2025.
The scheme is expected to complete by 2029.
