Speller Metcalfe lands major town centre scheme

Speller Metcalfe will deliver a programme of works as part of a major town centre transformation.

The firm has been selected by Tamworth Borough Council as its delivery partner on a scheme of works backed by the government’s Future High Streets Fund. 

Scope of works 

  • New Enterprise Centre in the 19th Century former Co-operative building on Colehill 
  • Middle Entry shopping centre renovations, including a new multi-use building for independents 
  • Restoration of the late 18th Century former Peel Café  
  • Refurbishment of vacant properties on Market Street 
  • Creation of a wider footbridge to the castle grounds 
  • Public realm works 

The council received £21.65 million from the Future High Streets Fund, however it will also contribute its own Capital funding. 

Work is expected to start in the coming months.
