The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has awarded £48 million to the Peterborough Station Enhancements and Connectivity project.

Additional funding is expected from Peterborough City Council and its partners, potentially bringing the total to £65 million.

The initial sum is the result of a successful Levelling Up Fund bid by the Council and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA).

It unlocks the first phase of regeneration around Peterborough station – known as Station Quarter.

  • new western entrance to the station
  • new car park
  • wider footbridge over the tracks
  • green areas and community spaces

Commercial and residential development will be part of the next phase of the programme.

An outline business case and planning application will be submitted next year.

First phase construction could start between 2024 and 2026, with wider developments continuing to 2028.
