The firm has been selected by National Grid to refurbish the southern section of the 4VK line between Cottam Power Station (Notts) and Wymondley (Herts).

The Transmission Networks team will upgrade lines that have been in service since the mid-1960s.

It has already replaced conductors on the 90 km stretch between Cottam and Ufford, near Peterborough, in Phase One of the programme.

In 2023 the firm will tackle the 80 km between Peterborough and Wymondley.

Drones will be used throughout to understand the complexity of the works involved, and due to its high-risk nature.

Alternative fuels, solar powered products and circular materials will be used for carbon reduction.
