The firm has been appointed by Manchester Airports Group (MAG) as project management and build delivery specialists for the redevelopment of Terminal 2 (T2).

Phase One of the wider Manchester Airport Transformation Programme (MANTP) saw T2 more than double in size.

Phase Two will see the remainder of T2 modernised and a second pier built, representing a £440 million investment.

The scheme is expected to create more than 500 new jobs, including supply chain. At least 5% of the workforce will be apprentices.

Mace has experience managing the delivery of major aviation projects, including Keflavik Airport in Iceland and Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.

It is hoped the programme will expand Manchester Airport’s role as the “UK’s global gateway in the North”, said Mace.

It is estimated £2.75 billion will be channelled into the northern economy as a result.

The programme is expected to complete in 2024, with the new facilities opening in 2025.
