Construction and property business Edison Group has acquired project management, fit out and property maintenance firm GDC Design.

Edison founder and CEO Calum Melville said the firm is investing more than £500,000 in GDC as part of the buy, to ‘build an infrastructure and platform to drive growth’ in several areas, including:

  • construction
  • project management
  • architectural services
  • bespoke joinery
  • interior fit out
  • maintenance and refurbishment

The takeover is the latest in many recent acquisitions by Edison in the construction and property sector.

It projects sales of £20 million by the end of 2023 driven by more acquisitions and organic growth.

The acquisition will safeguard current jobs and create 35 skilled jobs for the Glasgow economy, said Melville.

GDC’s previous owner and MD and current shareholder Graham Christie will remain in post until 2025 when he will retire.

GDC is projecting sales of £4 million in 2023.
