The divestment by Sika is necessary to complete its acquisition of MBCC, formerly BASF Construction Chemicals.

The admixture business is a leading producer of concrete additives for the construction industry.

It has 35 manufacturing sites in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand and sales of around $1 billion.

It also employs more than 1,600 people. They supply a broad chemicals portfolio for concrete manufacturing and underground construction.

Though subject to regulatory approvals, the acquisition should complete in the first half of 2023.

“I am very pleased to have agreed the acquisition of MBCC’s admixture business, these well-invested and well positioned sites present new opportunities for INEOS to grow in the construction market,” said Ashley Reed, CEO of INEOS Enterprises.
