Weston Homes has taken possession of a £40 million MMC facility in its hometown, where it will manufacture offsite solutions for itself and other developers.

The new 180,000 sq ft factory is located on the Horizon 120 Business Park in Great Notley, Braintree.

Weston will produce 4,000 light-gauge steel frame homes a year from June, it told Building.

What is MMC?

Offsite manufacture and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) means the design, manufacture and pre-assembly of construction components on a production line prior to onsite installation.

The new factory is alongside an existing facility in partnership with construction and manufacturing firm British Offsite.

The pair have provided design and installation solutions on multiple developments, including in Barking, Harlow, Hayes, Southend and Watford.
