Early-stage proposals for a new science and manufacturing hub in Cumbria have been revealed.

South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) has unveiled a “masterplan” for the new facility at the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) site in Ulverston.
GSK operations will wind down and close at the site in 2025 having sold its Zinnat operation to Swiss company Sandoz, which is transferring manufacturing to its plants in Austria.
A GSK Taskforce has been formed comprising Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, Cumbria County Council and Ulverston Town Council.

A business case and client team are expected in due course.
