The firm received planning permission for the Thornwood scheme, following a three-year consultation with Epping Forest District Council (EFDC).
- 62 new homes
- 24 affordable
- 2ha open space
Properties on land approximately the size of four football pitches will be flattened for the new houses and flats.
It is understood Thornwood is the first significant approval of development since Epping Forest was designated a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
The firm, part of Chigwell Group, will contribute £1.5 million in Section 106 (S106) monies as part of the deal.
S106 Agreements are legal arrangements between developers and Local Authorities, outlining a firm’s planning obligations to its community – in this instance for schools, libraries and highways, including a speed reduction on the High Road.
Works should start in the summer.
