The Northumberland firm has one of the largest offsite construction manufacturing facilities in the UK, it claims.
However, it plans to add a further 4,000 sqm of factory space and 50 new jobs to meet customers’ needs.
Merit has already doubled its workforce in the last two years in line with its growth plans.
It manufactures and builds cleanrooms, healthcare facilities, biopharma laboratories and M&E solutions.
“Merit’s strategic objective is to deliver a step-change in productivity within the construction industry and to show that investment in R&D and leveraging innovative approaches, such as advanced 4D BIM modelling technology, can lead to significant improvements,” said Merit CEO, Tony Wells.
“Our factory expansion will enable us to further optimise our way of working and better serve our customers.”
The new facility could be operational by April.
