The materials giant said the buy will bolster its circular materials capacity and complement the firm’s existing aggregates and ready-mixed concrete arm.
The Mick George Group has an annual revenue of around £220 million and operates in East Anglia and the East Midlands.
Services
- Bulk excavation and earthmoving
- Demolition
- Environmentally sensitive waste removal
- Waste management services
- Aggregates and concrete supply
Assets
- Four recycling facilities
- Eight waste transfer stations
- 11 aggregates quarries
- 10 ready-mixed concrete plants
The deal is subject to competition authority approval in the second quarter of 2023.
“The acquisition of the Mick George Group is a strong fit for us and another significant step towards our target to offer circular alternatives for half of our concrete products by 2030,” said Hanson CEO, Simon Willis.
“Promoting circularity and consequently recycling, reusing, and thereby reducing the use of primary raw materials, is crucial to achieving net zero.”
