The firm secured a new Embedded Framework deal from the Government, whose service covers Croydon and the surrounding areas in south London.

London Trams is a 28 km, 39 tram stop network.

This is the third framework contract awarded to VolkerRail since 2012. During that time, it has replaced more than 6,000 metres of track, across 32 areas.

Embedded Framework

  • design and upgrade embedded switches and crossings
  • install track along key sections of the network
  • remove and replace worn out sections

The work is part of London Trams’ 15-year ‘Trams 2030’ strategy, supporting the regeneration of Croydon town centre.

“VolkerRail has extensive experience in building and maintaining light rail networks, and we are delighted to continue our work, alongside TfL, to help maintain London’s Trams network,” said Sam Allen, general manager for VolkerRail.
