Capital & Centric have signed a deal with local authorities to construct Phase One of the Littlewoods Project – a major regeneration scheme for the iconic Littlewoods Building.
Inside the deal: The Littlewoods Building on Edge Lane was, in its day, a huge employer but has been derelict for years.
Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Liverpool City Council have partnered with Capital & Centric to overhaul the site to create the ‘Hollywood of the North’, with Twickenham Studios signing as lead tenant.
The Combined Authority has approved £8 million for remediation, design and planning, as part of £17 million overall funding.
Littlewoods Studios
- up to 3,650 jobs
- £199 million to the local economy
- studios and education facilities
A contractor will be announced shortly and remediation works will be complete by close of 2023.
“Regeneration at this scale is always going to be complex, but the legal agreements are now in place so we can start delivering this transformational project,” said John Moffat, Capital & Centric. “It has the potential to provide Liverpool’s young people with the opportunity to be part of the UK’s booming film and TV industry, generating millions of pounds for the local economy and creating thousands of jobs for generations to come.”
