Nova Pangaea Technologies is partnering with engineering firm Sembcorp subsidiary, Sembcorp Energy UK, on its first commercial facility, NOVAONE, at Wilton International.
Teesside Freeport is fast becoming the destination for clean energy and advanced manufacturing projects, with Tees Valley Lithium (TVL) set to deliver Europe’s largest lithium refinery there with engineering firm, Wave International.
Nova Pangaea creates sustainable low-carbon fuels and products, such as advanced biofuels, biocarbons and biochemicals.
NOVAONE will be the UK’s first bioethanol facility, with construction at the five-acre plot expected to begin in early 2023.
UK Jet Zero strategy
- bioethanol is converted to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)
- five commercial plants in construction by 2025
- decarbonise 10% of all domestic flights by 2030
- achieve net-zero aviation by 2050
Construction of NOVAONE will also begin to meet the needs of decarbonising the wider transport industry and agricultural sectors, and help drive the UK’s Levelling Up agenda.
- Local/regional growth and investment
- ‘Hundreds of jobs during construction’
- 45 full-time, green, local jobs
“Sembcorp Energy UK is excited to extend its support to Nova Pangaea with its ‘plug and play’ approach to available development land,” said Andy Koss, CEO UK & Middle East, Sembcorp Industries.
“Our region is leading the way in cutting-edge projects of the future, so when firms look for the best place to invest in net zero innovation, they choose Teesside,” added Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor.
