Plans to deliver a £200 million lab facility in Cambridge have been approved – with procurement for a contractor imminent.

BioMed Realty won approval for a 600,000 sq ft laboratory at Cambridge International Technology Park, with backing from private investment firm, Blackstone Inc.
BioMed, a lead provider of property solutions to the life science and technology industries, acquired the site in September 2021. Procurement for a lead contractor will start in Q1 2023.
In the longer term, the company intends to bring up to 1 million sq ft of lab space for life science companies, in Cambridge.

The UK’s life sciences sector contributes more than £85 billion to GDP each year. Cambridge is currently home to more labs than anywhere else in the UK.
