Volumetric Building Companies (VBC) has revealed ambitious plans for a UK expansion.

The move builds on the US modular building firm’s growth in Europe, after a merger with Polish modular manufacturer Polcom this year.
Thought to be ‘one of the world’s largest modular construction companies’, VBC is on track to be a $1 billion company in the next three years. As part of its UK expansion, it has its sights on:
- build-to-rent
- affordable housing
- student accommodation
- hotels
From its headquarters in Philadelphia, VBC specialises in steel-framed modular and innovative timber construction solutions.
It said its off-site design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities could cut construction programmes by up to 50%.
“Having technology-led production facilities on multiple continents, we are now well placed to drive change, transform construction, and address the housing crisis in the UK, Europe, US, and globally,” said VBC CEO, Vaughan Buckley.
“We are already in advanced discussions with a number of hotel groups, private developers, major contractors, and social housing providers,” said VBC UK director, Andy Smith.
“We also manufacture ‘components’ in-house – such as bathrooms and cabinets for kitchens and bedrooms – giving us complete control and security of supply for fixtures, fittings and finishes from design to manufacture, installation and handover.”
