Balfour Beatty’s Asian joint venture, Gammon Construction has secured a £300 million contract by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group for a new office building in Causeway Bay.
Inside the deal: The new offices will span 25 storeys and include a range of associated retail facilities. New footbridges will be installed connecting the scheme with the World Trade Centre Hong Kong, as well as a nearby shopping centre.
Processes:
- Smart – a common data environment to drive collaboration and efficiency.
- ‘The Entertainer’ – an e-powered battery storage system, cutting the need for diesel.
Also on the job:
- AMPD Energy
The contract win follows the demolition of the Excelsior Hotel, also by Gammon, which previously occupied the site.
“The sustainable consideration and features of the design will enable the [new] project to achieve the high level of green accreditation that this ambitious project is targeting,” said Gammon CEO, Kevin O’Brien.
Works commence later this year, with completion expected in 2025.
